A football match will be played to-morrow afternoon at Potter's Paddock on No. 1 Ground, between teams chosen from the offices of the Herald and Star. New Plymouth, Thursday. The Manawatu Junior football representative team defeated the Taranaki Junior representative team to-day by nine points to nil.

SOUTHLAND V. CANTERBURY.

Christchurch, Thursday. The Southland v. Canterbury inter-provin-cial football match was played at Lancaster Park this afternoon in the presence of 2000 spectators. The game, which was fast and open, was won by Canterbury by nine points to five. In the first spell Lee and White scored for Canterbury, Lang converting one try, and in the second White scored another try for the home team, and Jenkins for Southland, Rogers converting. The weather was splendid, and the ground in fair order in spite of a lot of heavy rain within 24 hours. Mr. Cotterill referreed and satisfied all, and the game was a great improvement upon the match on Saturday against Otago.
