FRANCE AND THE NEW HEBRIDES.
Sydney. August 22. Letters from the New Hebrides state emphatically that strong representations have been made to the French Government to declare a protectorate over the group within the. past few months. The French Government have made a grant of £15,000 to the French New Hebrides Trading Company, with a view to promoting settlement and to encourage trade.
