THE CITY ELECTION TODAY

To-day the election for a member to represent tho City of Auckland in the General Assembly, to till the vacancy caused by tho resignation of Mr. W. L. llees, will take place, the candidates being Messrs. W. L. Rees (who again contests the scat), and Mr. A. J. Cadman. Both candidates and their supporters are working hard, and each sido is confident of victory. The hours of polling are from nine a.m. to six p.m. Mr. S. Y. Collins is Returning Officer, and the following are the polling* places: -City Hall, Queen-street (principal); Catholic Institute, Wellington - street ; Baptist Schoolhouse, Jorvois Road; St. Sepulchre's School, Symondstreet. There are SOl7 electors on the city roll, of whom 1970 were struck off, leaving over GOOD electors entitled to vote.
