THE COWES REGATTA.
Press Association.— Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.
London, August 1. The Prince of Wales' yacht Britannia, with the owner and the Emperor of Germany on board, won the forty ton race at the Cowes Regatta, the Valkyrie being second, and the American boat Navahoe third. The Emperor assisted in sotting the sails, and took a spell at the helm with the rest.
The " Cowes week," the great yachting carnival of the year, opened on Monday. The handicap race for Her Majesty's Cup was won by the German Emperors Meteor (better known by its original name of the Thistle). The Valkyrie was disqualified through sailing a wrong course.
