SHEEP RETURNS.

An .rim return of the approximate number of sheep in the colony on 30ih April, 1893, show- a total of 19,337,730 in 1893, KB against 18,570,732 in 1892, an increase of 780,978. The number in the Auckland district was 811,733 in 1893, against 791,975 in IV).:, sin increase uf 49,738. The number in tl.eOtav'o district, was 4,304,387 in 1893 and 4,3(;0,518 in ISO-*, an increase of 93,330. Of the tola! increase of 7811,978 the North Hand contributed 101,001, and the South Island 325.014. REVENUE RETURNS. — [BY TELEGRAPH. — I'RESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday, fin-: Customs revenue for July was £138,395, against £121,713 last year, and £118,243 for the previous month. Auckland contributed£32,3s3 ; Wellington, £23, ; Christehureh, £21,113; Dunedin, £37,883. Receipts so far are £18,081 below tho estimate. The beor duty for July was £4133, against £4156 for the previous month, and £3750 la-t year. Auckland contributed £210; Wellington, £494; Chriitchurch, £676; Dun.din, £1025. The receipts are £1830 under estimate.
The clerk of the Whau Asylum desires through our columns to thank Messrs. Donald and Edenborough, for a gift of 21 dozen oranges, which were highly appreciated by tho patients in the Institution.
