VERY SUDDEN DEATH AT WAIROA SOUTH.
Fr.ouENX'K Harriet Forbes, the wife of Mr. George Forbes, settler, of this district, died very suddenly at her labo residence on Sunday, the llith insr. Mrs. Forbes got up in the morning in her usual health, and dressed her youngest baby, which is about seven months old. About 8 a.m. Mrs. Forbes, not feeling well, eent her eldest boy to Mr. Forbes, saying sho was very ill. Several neighbours' wives were called in, and rendered all tho assistauco in their [tower to tho sulterer, but all to no good, as she expired about mid-day.
A coroner's inquest was hold on tho body nt tho residence of Mr. George Forbes on Monday, the 17th instant, at the hour of noon, before Mr. D. Crawford, J.P., acting* coronor.andtlic following jury :—Messrs. K. McCollough, J.P., James Baird, John Henderson, T. L. Stevens, Robert Cooper, mid John Clow. Mr. McCollough was chosen foreman. Constable A. McKnight represented the police. Tho evidence of Mr. Forbes, and Mrs. R. Finn was taken at length, and went bo show that every attention had been shown to the deceased. Dr. Edward Austin Bowos, a duly-qualified medical practioner residing at Otahuhu, stated that having heard the cvidenco of tho two last witnesses, and having examined the body of the deceased externally, there is no sign of injury to the body, anil in his opinion the deceased died of heart disease. The verdict of the jury was in accordance with the medical evidence, "Died from heart disease."
The funeral took place on Tuesday, the 18th, leaving the deceased's late residence
at two p.m. The remains were followed to the Church of England cemetery hero by a very large number of residents of the district on horseback and on foot. Tho chief mourners wero Mr. (jeorge Forbes (husband), and Mr. Daniel Rumball (father of the deceased). The Rev. N. 1). Boye* conducted the funeral service in a very impressive manner.—[Own Correspondent.]
