Pierce, is to succeed the late Mr. Nicholas Lawson as manager of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Mr. Pierce is at present representing tho company in Napier. A man named William Graham, -■">, went out shooting the other day near Bendigo (Victoria). lie did not return, and on search being made his body was found with the head nearly blown off. Apparently his gun had accidentally exploded as he was getting over a fence, killing him instantaneously. Among the passengers who arrived at Onehunga yesterday by the Union S.S. Company's steamer Mahinapua from New Plymouth was the Rev. W. Konaldson, Grand Secretary to '.tie New Zealand Grand Lodge vi Freemasons, who has been attending the recent session of the Grand Lodge at Wanganui.
