A "LOOKING BACKWARD" COLONY.

Those who have resolved to establish a colony in England, to be conducted upon the lines of the Utopian city in " Looking Backward," have completed their arrangements. The land selected for the purpose of this interesting economic experiment is situated within 40 miles of London, about two miles of Hockley station on the Groat Eastern railway. The estimate of the promoters is that a family doing their own spade and other work will ultimately obtain a comfortable living upon six acres, providing they have sufficient capital to work the land, and are able to carry on simple homo industries during the periods when outdoor work is nob possible. The land will be lot upon perpetual leases, subject to a periodical assessment of ground vaiu>s, which will not, however, affect the tenant's right to his own improvements. The pioneers, of course, will obtain their land more cheaply than the ordinary colonists. ; and it is estimated that they will be able to have five acres for a tenbal of half-a-crown a week, including rates, taxes, and tithes.
