Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyrißht. RETRENCHMENT IN VICTORIA. Melbourne. April 27. In the Legislative Assembly last night the salary of the next Governor of the colony was reduced from £10,000 (the present amount) to £7000. The honoraria of members of the Assembly was reduced from £300 to £250, the salaries of Ministers of the Crown by 20 per cent., and Judges and high officials by 15 per cent. The Government has finally refused to contribute to the Vancouver Mail Service, and has also refused to grant a subsidy to a small steam service to Mew Hebrides, but has decided to approach 1 the New South Wales Government with a view of resuming the monthly service I view of resuming the monthly service which was recently suspended.
