A cable message which appeared in our columns yesterday stated that the men of Ulster were, enrolling themselves for the purpose of appointing an Assembly of six hundred delegates empowered to declare the policy and direct the action of Ulster Unionists. ilus step is being taken in conformity with the advice contained in the manifesto issued by the Ulster Defence Union last month. That document stated that although the constitutional associations in Ulster would continue with unabated vigour their efforts in defence of the legislative. Union, the crisis which had arisen, endangering our liberties, our fortunes, and the future of our country"—to quote the words of the manifesto—called for an organisation invested by the loyal people of Ulster with direct authority
