AN M.H.R. ADJUDGED A BANKRUPT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Nelson, Wednesday. Today Mr. R. H. J. Reeves, M.H.R., was adjudged a bankrupt on the petition of Mr. J. M. Larnach, of Dunedin. It appears that some time since Mr. Larnach obtained judgment against Mr. Reeves for £50, but with the costs the sum now amounts to over £73. Mr. Reeves offered to settle the matter by paying £50, and the balance in four months. This Mr. Larnach refused, and Mr. Harley, who appeared for him, stated that his positive instructions were that tho whole amount should be paid at once, or the order for adjudicating issued. His Honor, Judge Kenny, said that under the circumstances he had noother course open but to grant the order, saying at the came time that ho could not but consider the action of Mr. Larnach as seeming very harsh. •
