Hamilton, Monday. Six tenders were dealt with by the house committee of the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, yesterday, for the erection at the hospital of a residence for the medical officer. The house is to contain five rooms besides kitchen and bathroom. .Che successful tender was that of Mr. D. Elliott, of Hamilton, for £386 10s. Mr. John Knox held his weekly sale of produce and furniture on Saturday. But little produce was offered. Geese realised Is lOd each; onions. Id per lb ; potatoes, 5s per cwt ; plums, 2£d to 3d per lb. . A quantity of furniture was sold at satisfactory prices. Mr. T. H. White, the architect for the building, received five tenders (labour only) for the erection of Sunday-school house for St. Peter's , parish : —Warr, £37; Johnston, £38; Salmon and Delicar, £32 ; Connelly and Chappell, £28 ; and T. Evans (accepted), £25. The new rooms as an addition to the Volunteer Hall have now been completed by Messrs. Connelly and Chappell, the contractors, two members of corps,* and taken over. They made an addition 25 feet deep and the whole width at the back of the ha)!. The one is fitted up with cupboards and racks for . the rifles, receptacles for the ammunition, band instruments, etc., and the other is plain, and will form a useful addition as a supper room for balls or a dressing room for theatrical entertainments.

The monthly cattle sale of both Mr. J McNicol and Mr. W. J. Hunter, at the Borough sale yards, takes place on Thursday next. A large quantity of stock ot all kinds is notified for sale by both auctioneers. Truly if sales at these yards continue to be so much frequented as they have of late been the Borough Council will have to enlarge the yards. Ngabuawahia, Monday. Settlers on the Waingaroa block will be glad to see that the Government are about to undertake the widening of the track on the Firewood Creek Road, so as to give better ingress to the land of the district and the Waingaroa hot springs, which, though only some 14 miles from this township, and having well-constructed baths and a commodious accommodation house, remain com. paratively unknown. The work is about to be undertaken by Mr. Gerhard Mueller, the Chief Surveyor, Auckland. Cambridge, Monday. The report and balance-sheet of the Sunday-school snowed a credit balance of £15 15s.

The new manager of the Auckland Agricultural Company is undertaking a large amount of work this season. Tenders have already been called for a large breadth of Ploughing, and Mr. McCaw has expressed a ope that the local body would see its way to road repairs and formation in and about the Bridgewater portion of the district, as his company have resolved on shortly doing a lot of work on that portion of their estate. Ohaupo. Monday. A large number of settlers attended at Mr. Chapman's farm on Saturday, to witness the performance of Messrs. Reid and Gray's reaper and binder, '' The Merser Non-canvas Binder." One peculiarity of the machine is that it works entirely without canvas. The machine was tried on a field of grain, and everyone present appeared well pleased with its performances.

Rotoeua, Monday. Williams, one of the gangers on McLean and Son's railway contract, sustained a dangerous cut on the head through a heavy piece of timber falling on him, when engaged at work in one of the tunnels. The injured man rode in from the works this afternoon, and went to Dr. Ginder's to have the wound dressed.

The Rev. J. Berry, of Auckland, preached in the Church of St. Faith last right to a crowded congregation. Mr. Kelly, M.H.R., left for Auckland toay.
