The Union S.S. Co.'s steamer Mahinapua, Captain W. J. Newton, arrived from the South shortly after noon yesterday. Mr. Hodson. the purser reports that the steamer left Wellington at 5.30 p.m. on the 21st instant, and arrived at New Plymouth at 11.30 a.m. on the 22nd; left again at 10.45 p.m. the same day for the Manukau, crossed the Bar at 11.10 a.m., and reached the wharf at 12.35 p.m. yesterday. Experienced fine weather with smooth sea as tar as Taranaki, thence to arrival had fresh north - west breeze with thick weather. The Northern Co.'s steamer Gairloch, from Waitara and New Plymouth, arrived at 2 p.m. yesterday. She left Waitara at 10.50 p.m. on the previous day. Her cargo included 40 bead of cattle.
