Judgment Summons .Cases.—ln the following cases orders were made as stated :—W. S. Laurie and Co. v. Fred Goldsbury, £8 4s 7d, to be paid in a month, or a month's imprisonment; A. Buckland and Son v. Samuel McQuay, £11 Is lOd, to be paid in two months, or one month's imprisonment ; Walter Swift v. Oscar Smith, £9 ss, to be paid in six weeks, or one month imprisonment; C. R. Fielder v. John Bridge, £5 19s, to be paid in a month, or one month's imprisonment. Auckland Freezing Company v. H. G. Walmslky.— Claim £5 8s lOd. No appearance of the defendant. Judgment for the plaintiff, with costs £2 7s.
POLICE COURT.—Friday. [Before Mr. 11. W. Bishop, R.M. ]
Drunkenness.—One first offender was fined 5s and costs, or, in default, twentyfour hours' imprisonment;. William Hart, for a third offence, was fined £3, or in default, fourteen days' imprisonment, with hard labour.
Alleged Threatening Language. — Christopher Heading was charged with unlawfully using threatening language towards John Paul. Mr. Madden appeared on behalf of the complainaut, and Mr. O'Meagher for the defendant. John Paul, general dealer, deposed that he resided at the corner of Durham and Chapel-streets, and that, on the evening of November 10th, accused, who was under the influence of liquor, came to his shop and made use of threatening language towards witness. Mr. Bishop said that there was considerable doubt in his mind as to the facts of the case, and he would not feel justified in binding the defendant over to keep the peace. The case waff accordingly dismissed without any order as to costs.
