CASTOR (imp.), by Zealot (son of the famous English sire Hermit, winner of the Derby 1863) out of Lady Yardley, by the great Sterling (sire of Isonomy— to be the greatest racehorse of his day). Castor was a great performer at all weights and distances, winning 22 races out of 28 starts. His stock are particularly promising, robust, and handsome, showing great bone and substance. Paddy's Land's dam Maymorn by Old Victor (winner of the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot, and got by Vindex, by Touchstone); granddam Lady Norah, by Mount Zion (by Mountain Deer, by Touchstone out of Devotion, by Harkaway) ; g. granddam Polly, by Arthur (by Sir Hercules out of Angelica, by Sir Harry Dunsdale); g. g. granddam by Whalebone.
