SHOCKING TRAGEDY AT MORPETH.

A YOUTH SHOOTS HIS STEPFATHER. Sydney, October 10. A shocking tragedy occurred at Morpeth to-day. It appears that a youth named John Morton, aged 19 years, residing with his stepfather, Joseph Tricklebank, procured a double-barrelled gun for the purpose of going shooting. His stepfather objected, and a quarrel ensued, ending in Morton stopping up to Tricklebank and discharging both barrels at him. The shots shattered the unfortunate man's breast, causing almost instantaneous death. Morton has been arrested and lodged in the lock-up. The affair has created a great sensation.
