PURGING THE ROLL

CITY OF AUCKLAND. A sitting of the Court appointed for the purpose of hearing objections in connection with the electoral roll for the city of Auckland was held in the Resident Magistrates Court yesterday morning. Dr. Giles occupied the Bench, and Mr. A. R. T. Haultain, registrar, appeared in support of the objections. Sixty-two summonses had been issued, but none of tho parties appeared in person, though a few were represented by Mr. J. S. Duke. In no fewer than thirtyeight out of the sixty-two cases dealt with, the parties stated that they were not the owners of the properties attributed to them on the roll.
