The newly-imported Pure Bred Irish Hunting Sire PADDY'S LAND Pedigree: PADDYS LAND is a powerfully built dark brown horse, foaled 29th May, 1883. He stands about 10 hands high, on short legs, with great strength, lots of quality, and is a beautiful mover. He was bred by J. Duffin, County Dublin, Ireland. His sire the world-famed Ascetic, by Hermit from l.ady Alicia, by Melbourne. Ascetic is the sire of Royal Meath, winner of the Grand Prix Steeplechase at Paris. He is also the sire of Cloister, who ran second in the last two Liverpool Grand National Steeplechases. Paddy's Land's dam Maymorn .by Old Victor (winner of the Royal Hunt Cnp at Ascot, and got by Vindex, by Touchstone granddam Lady Norah, by Mount Zion (by Mountain Deer, by Touchstone out of Devotion, by Harkaway); g. granddam Polly, by Arthur (by Sir Hercules out of Angelica, by Mr Harry Dunsdale); g. g. granddam by Whalebone. It will be seen by the above that Paddy's Land combines Rome of the stoutest strains of blood in the world, and from his size, strength, action, and quality, he ought to make a sire fit to get horses for the racecourse, hunting field, or for Indian or town purposes.
