[by telegraph.—special correspondent. Wellington, Sunday. The following figures will show what has been the effect of the reduction of the postage on letters for the United Kingdom from 6d to 2£d. There were 566,790 letters posted in 1890, and the postage was £17,066. In 1891, 644,742 letters were posted, but the amount was only £8178.
