ATTEMPT TO SHOOT AN ACTOR.
At Harrogate, on July 28, Harry Fischer, comedian, of Holtham Road, London, was shot at by Violet Gordon, described as an actress, of Belgrave Road, St. John's Wood, London. The bullet did not strike him, and he was unhurt. The shot was fired whilst Mr. Victor Stevens' " Bonnie Boy Blue" Company were in the station awaiting die train for Scarborough, where the company are playing for the rest of the week. The prisoner was brought up before the magistrates, when the chairman said the Bench found the prisonor "Guilty," and had decided to commit her to the assizes. The prisouer replied, " I am not guilty." She was much affected. Mr. Richardson asked for bail, and after consideration it was decided to accept two sureties of £20 each, with the prisoner in £10 surety. Asked if she could find persons to bail for her, prisoner replied (still weeping), " I think I can."
