MCKINNEY, Hon. Sec. I. __________'-'' tans Dairy Produce, &c. T>URE CONCENTRATED MILK (NO SUGAR OR ANY ADMIXTURE WHATEVER). A NEW PROCESS FOR PRESERVING AND CONCENTRATING MILK, INVENTED AND PATENTED BY J. T. JOHNS. Professor A. P. W. Thomas, F.LS., of University College, Auckland, says : " I have witnessed Mr. Johns' process and examined the product, and 1 hav.' no hesitation in saving that the process is capable of yielding a concentrated milk which is practically free from the germs of putrefaction and disease. The principle on which the process is founded is that so successfully established by M. Pasteur, but by a peculiar, and, I believe, novel metli-d, Mr. Johns is able to prepare a concentrated milk which retains the flavour and other qualities of new iiilk. The samples that I have examined, when diluted with the due proportion of water, were, in my opinion, quite equal to new milk." Dr. A. G. Purchas, M.R.CS., England, U.S.A., London, Challinor House, Auckland, says: "Having witnessed the process by which Mr. Johns has succeeded in making it possible to keep milk perfectly fresh and wholesome without the use of any chemical or added nutter of any kind, I have great pleasure in recommending milk so prepared for all purposes. I believe the general adoption of the process will prove a national benefit, and that in the 'jase of infants and invalids especially it will lie the means ot saving the lives of many by the supply of nutriment free from the germs of disease, and from iujmious chemicals, such as those now commonly used to keen milk from turning sour." Dr. A. O. Knight, M.R.C.S., England, L.S.A., London, Severn House, Ponsonby Road, Auckland, sajli: "On first examining Mr. Johns'appliances, process, and samples, I was so satisfied of its scientific soundness and utility as to t;ive it at ouce my hearty countenance and support. Subsequent examination by myself and others has confirmed and strengthened my opinion of its merits. Its use for infants brought up by hand will tend greatly to the reduction of infant mortality, milk being the vehicle by which disease is often carried. The method adopted by Mr. Johns viitualiy destroys all germs likely to be thus conveyed." My system embraces: procuring the best Milk, under strictest supervision, in tire most suitable districts its conveyance at once direct to the factory; its treatment there, without the slightest adulteration, by this scientific process, which arrests decay and minimises the risk of its contamination by disease germs; aud its being secured in air-'.ight vessels, in which it is delivered direct to the consumer, and in such condition that it may he kept perfectly sweet for days or weeks, as may be required. The advantages of this system over the present style of carting Milk many miles to the retailer, then drawing it through tho streets in vessels, which have to be opened and the contents dipped into for supplying each customer, whether such customer's premises may bo clean and free from disease or not, will be apparent to any thinking mind. As the output at first will necessarily be limited, orders will be executed in the rotation received, but preference will be given where required for Infants and Invalids. Arrangements are in prog-ess for meeting tho utmost limit of consumption, but the scientific accuracy required prohibits undue haste. Same price as ordinary milk. _3T Orders may be left with S.
