Perceval, Agent-General for New Zealand, has had an interview with the Hon. R. H. Meade, Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Colonial Office, respecting the views of the Imperial Government on the difficulty between the Governor and the Government of New Zealand over the appointments to the Legislative Council. The Marquis of Ripon, Secretary of State for the Colonies, is away from London at present. No information has been made public as to the result of the interview. (by telegraph, —special correspondent.] Wellington, Friday. Ministers believe that the reply of the Secretary of State to the representations of His Excellency the Governor and the Ministry, regarding the Legislative Council, will be sent by cable despatch to Lord Glasgow. The correspondence is just due at home, and Lord Ripon, it is conjectured, may take ten days or a fortnight to consider his reply.
