Tub Egmont Farmers' Union, Limited, Report. —We held our fortnightly stock sale at Hawera on Wednesday, the 7th instant. The yards were well-filled with cattle of an exceptionally good class, though no sheep came forward for sale. There was a fair attendance, but bidding was flat throughout, which resulted in several lines leaving the yards unsold, not reaching the reserves. We (|uote:—Fat bul'ocks, £5 17« 6d to £6; two-and-half to three-year bullocks, £4 lis to £4 16s : eighteen months to two-year steers, £2 13s to £3 10s j springers, £4 5s to 46 15s ; heifers and eatae la sail ~<S3 10a to €&

MASTERTON. M&ssas. Lonvks and lo&sd' Stock Sal* Report.—We had a good entry of all classes of stock yesterday, and buyers were numerous, thus ensuring brisk, competition \ throughout. Late rates were 'irmly mainsained, with more animation than lias characterised the sales for some months past, which may perhaps be accounted for to some extent by "the appearance of spring Mid the consequent evidences of abundant feed. Beef was in fair supply, quality not first-class. Mutton was scarce, with good demand. Store cattle sold well, and the same may be said of sheep, prices of the latter ruling higher and topping the market for the season. Beef realised ISs to '20s for JOOlbs for Cows and bullocks respectively. In dairy cows, the quality being inferior, the prices suffered ft slight decline; Other kinds of cattle fully maintaining late rates, with a hardening tendency. Fat wethers, light and inferior quality, brought Id's 6d; store wethers, from 12s 3d to 13s 6d; ewes and lambs, 13s to 15s 9d ; hoggets, from 6s 6d for inferior to 12s lid for a nice line of 500, which bore evidence of having been well wintered. Merino store wethers, 6s 6d. The demand for pigs is still weak. The entry ol horses was unusually good, comprising two draught entires from Canterbury and Otngo, with a few choice mares introduced by Mr. Oawn, the celebrated draught-horse breeder from the East Taieri. For the latter there was good competition, prices ranging from 41 to 50 guineas, and a 10-months-old filly out of Lucy, a mare by Prince, realised 23J guineas, Mr.'VV. Booth, of Carterton, beinjr the purchaser, and Mr. Fallooli, of Wnngnchu, secured the dam for £60, which by many was considered a bargain. A three-year-old filly by Lord Salisbury fell to the bid of Mr. Buick, of Opaki, at 41 guineas, and was considered the bargain of the sale. Hacks and light harness horses were not iu demand. A few sold at from I'li 15s to £21.
