[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION*.] Dpnedin, Wednesday. At a meeting of cheese and butter-makers held to day, about 40 being present, papers were read by Messrs. Sawers and Newman Anderson, the newly-appointed butter expert. Resolutions were carried that' the Government be urged to secure for one or more years the services of a leading expert from Great Britain to lecture and instruct in cheese and butter-making. That it would be desirable for the Government to establish a model factory where people would be taught by competent cheese and batter-makers, such factories to be self-supporting, certificates to be granted according to the amount of skill acquired that it is very little use to attempt the grading of dairy produce at different ports, but that produce should be inspected and reported on by competent ju ges at the New Zealand Dairy Produce Depot in London. The Dairy Industry Bill was considered, and some amendments suggested, the general opinion being that some of the clauses were too stringent, and left too much power in the hands of the i nspector.
