KAURI GUM MARKET.

The following is the report of the gum market and ruling quotations, as furnished to us by the committee of gum merchants :— Ordinary ... £46 to £47 Poor ordinary £32 to £40 East Coast £78 Supplies trom Ist instant to date, 500 tons. Superior lots, unpicked and extra cleaned, are worth from £50 and upwards, according to quality and degree of cleaning. Prices for ordinary train are lower. Superior ordinary, from £50 upwards, continues in good demand, also East Coast.

LIVE STOCK & PRODUCE MARKETS. AUCKLAND. Messrs. Hunter and Novak's Weekly Report.—Grain, seeds, horse-feed: Wet weather and the holiday injuriously affected tho volume of trade this week. The supply has been sufficient for the domand, with no noteworthy alterations in value. Horses : A moderate number have been brought forward, and purchasers were forthcoming, but no high-priced animals have offered or changed hands. On Friday, at the Durham Yarns, numerically there were a good many entries, but generally the stamp was not good enough. We quote : £4 7s 6d to £9 7s 6d; light harness, ±.'5 10s to £10; medium draught, £0 to £13 15s. Wool, hides, skins, etc.: The auction sales were field at the Durham Yards on Wednesday, on account of the holiday. The supply was not large, t but prices were firm. We quote: Stout ox hides, 3sd to 4fd per lb ; steer and cow, l|d to 3id ; calfskins, 34tl to 5d per lb; sheepskins, Is lOu to 3s each ; lambskins, Is 2d to 2s; pelts, 6d to Is 2d; wool, fleece, 6sd to 6£d; tallow, 16s to 19s 6d per cwt. Cattle: The weather and holiday diminished the supply, but there have been no noteworthy alterations in value. She6p: The number penned at Newmarket, on Wednesday, was oelow the average, and the previous week's values ruled. Pigs: Scarce; value unchanged. Messrs. A. Rockland and Sons' Weekly Report.— At the Haymarket during the past week oaten sheaves and meadow hay have

brought from 2a 6d to 3s ; pressed hay, 4a 3d the cwt; maize, Is 8d to2a ; oats, 2s to 2s 3d the bushel; bonednst, £7 ; carrots, 25s to 27s ; chaff, £2 10s to £3 the ton. On Friday horse stock yarded in full number. Good horses better worth, inferior unsaleable ; the pair of black buggy horses brought £31; strong active harness horses, £18 to £20 10s; useful light harness, £7 to £14 ; a phaeton, £10. On Wednesday hides folly kept their late values ; best ox ranged from 4jjd to Gd ; medium. 3d to 3j{d; cows' and light ox, If dto 2id ; calfskins, sc' to the lb; tallow, 18s 6d and 18s 9d the cwt. Sheepskins were better worth; prices ranged from Is to 3s lid each. Fleece wool 6d to ojd, locks 2jd to 3d lb. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows abundant, generally of good quality; they were in brisk enquiry at an advance on late values. Prices ranged from £5 to £7 17s odeach. Few store cattle yarded. Calves in average gupEly were required; 52 sold. Young calves brought from 7s to 20s ; six-months'oldc, 25s to 37s 6d each. Fat cattle in average number; 240 yarded. Prices irregular; at beginning of sale prices were lower, but rallied as the sale proceeded. Good quality were from 18s to 20s the 1001b; inferior, trom 17s. Sheep Elentiful; 1317 sold, but many were bought y the graziers. Last week's quotations were obtained. Pigs more plentiful than usual; IGO sold; all from medium to heavy weight. Prices were lower. Porkers ranged from 14s to 265; heavy pigs, £2 5s to £3 10s ; coarse pigs, 7s to 21s each. Messrs. G. W. and Hons'Report.— On Monday we sold a line of 200 mixed sheepskins, at Westfield at 3s 2d; merinocs, 2s 4a. On Tuesday we cleared, with one exception, a very large number of hides at late quotations'; picked stout ox sold from 5d to 5Jd ; heavy stout, 4id to 4|d; heavy, 3§d to 4d; steer, 2£d to 3d ; cow—beat dry salted, 24d to 2id; wet salted, 1M to 2d; inferior, l£d to lid ; calf, 4Jd to Sid ; stags, Id to per lb. Sheep skins: Prices advanced, and good local skins sold readily up to 3s 10(1 each for longwools ; crossbreds, 3s to 3s Od ; country lots at equally good prices. Tallow : No change to report. Bones :£4 15s to £6 per ton.
