OUR FOOD.
Sir,—The other day I saw that a number of dead sheep were being landed from one of the Union Company's boats. Enquiring what became of these dead animals, I was informed that they are no doubt sent to the boiling-down establishment. The question arises, are they so sent ? and whose business it is to see that they are, and that they are boiled down, and do not find their way to cheap retail shops, and made into sausages, preserved minced meat, brawn, &c. Can you inform your readers if there is any real inspection or supervision.— am, etc., Query.
