At Gualto thirty thousand sheep have been destroyed, and at other stations they are dying by hundreds. Many owners are killing the lambs to save the ewes. THE EARL AND COUNTESS OP GLASGOW. Sydney, May 24. The Countess of Glasgow and family will come to Sydney by the Austral. They will be the guests of Lord Jersey till they leave for New Zealand. Lord Glasgow arrives by express to-morrow. Later. Lord Glasgow arrived at noon today, and was met at the station by Lord Jersey. The two governors drove in company to Government House. EXTENSIVE CONFLAGRATION. Melbourne, May 24. A fire at Dandenong destroyed five private houses and a coffee-palace. The damage is estimated at £5000. THE BOATING DISASTER. Melbourne, May 24, No more bodies have been recovered of those lost by the sinking of the boat Progress in the harbour on Saturday. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WHEAT AREA. Adelaide, May 24. The area of land under wheat last season was 152,403 acres, showing a decrease of 11,150.
