[by TELEGRAPH.rEESS ASSOCIATION'.] ACCIDENT TO A JOCKEY. In the Hurdles at Blenheim yesterday, Clarico fell, and Alexander, the rider, sustained a fracture of his right arm and two ribs. ESTABLISHING A RECORD. Not a single case of bankruptcy has occurred in the Wellington district since the 21st April last, which is stated to be the record for the district. THE MIDLAND RAILWAY. It is understood that a serious difficulty has arisen between the Government and the Midland Railway Company. It was proposed by the Company to introduce the Abt system of mountain railway in lieu of a tunnel, but eminent engineers to whom the Government referred the matter are not satisfied that the system lias been proved efficierJ, and consent to the proposed alter? tion will probably be withheld.
