IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.

The following is the total value of imports and exports from and to each country at the port of Auckland for the quarter ended March 31, 1892

The total value of the imports into the colony last quarter was £1,930,476, as compared with £1,737,480 for the corresponding period of last year. The value of the exports last quarter was £3,955,293, as against £3,778,275 for the corresponding quarter of 1891. Of the imports Auckland contributed £465,219 ; Wellington, £408,497; Christchurch, £312,813 ; Dunedin, £498,798. Of experts Auckland contributed £394,074 ; Wellington, £656,955 ; Napier, £608,892 ; Christcnurch, £633,163; Dunedin, £411,294.

GOLD RETURNS. Since April, 1857, no less than 12,131,5830z of gold of the value of £47,679,191 have been exported from New Zealand. Of that amount 1,096,4730z is credited to the Auckland province, 188oz to Wellington, 73,9550z to Marlborough, 1,659,4300z to Nelson, 3,811,9260z to the West Coast, 240z to Canterbury, and 4,889,4850z to Otago. The returns of gold exported for the quarter ended 31st March, 1892, show an increase of 24,5390z of a value of £146,385 over the returns for the corresponding quarter of 1891.

BANK DEPOSITS. Bank returns show a marked increase in deposits in the March quarter. The increase in deposits not bearing interest is £388,100; bearing interest, £155.500 : total, £543,600. The increase is £94,000 more than in the same quarter last year.
