SCARCITY OF EMPLOYMENT.

Nai-ikk, Thursday. lr is stated time there are many unemployed about. The other day it was reported to the labour bureau that contractors at Wairoa required twenty men. The police selected thoroughly suitable men and shipped them there. Some have returned. They report, that only three were taken on. Those who had money enough took deck passages back. The majority had no money and are now tramping back overland.
