During the flower season one of the chief trades between France and Russia is that in natural flowers, which, forwarded to Paris from the south of France and from suburban hothouses, are arranged by professional florists in fanciful and tasteful manner in baskets, posies, and floral ornaments, and then packed with as much care as though they were costly millinery. Each stem is rolled in wadding, and a ball of moss is fastened on the end to keep flower and foliage fresh.
