DRAPERS' AND CLOTHIERS' PICNIC.
-* Although the weather which prevailed yesterday was not all that pleasure-seekers could have wished for, there was a very numerous attendance at the Drapers' and Clothiers' Picnic, which was held at Motutapu. The ferry steamer Eagle left the Queen-street Wharf shortly after nine o'clock in the morning, carrying the company, consisting of men, women, and children, to their chosen resort. Hunter's Band was in attendance, and enlivened the proceedings by choice and varied musical selections. Refreshments were provided for the visitors at moderate prices, and games and sports suitable to both sexes were heartily indulged in. The party returned" to town shortly after sunset. The following are the results of the various athletic events —

Cossar, 60yds, 1 ; J, Varney, 20yds, 2; F. M. Gatenbv, 45yds, 3. Novelty Race: Nooiren, 1; Self, 2; Dickson, 3. Three-legged Race : Cossar and Atkins, 1; Chappel and Noonen, 2. Bandsmen's Race : Hobbin, 1. Steeplechase : W. E. Cossar, 150 yds. 1; F. ■•Atkins, 20yds, 2; H. N. Cossar, 70yds, 3. Tug-o'-War: Court Brothers' team, 1; Smith and Caughey's team, 2.
