The Victoria Racing Club were favoured with another splendid day for thoir meeting, but the attendance was again below the mark, and was about the same as on Tuesday. Forty Winks won the Autumn Handicap through sheer gameness, the last mile and ahalf being traversed in 2m. 3/{s. Fountain rode La Tosca in this race, Mr. Wilson having dispensed with Cusdin's services. .Tirailleur started, but ran very badly. Strathmorc'a victory in the Champion Stakes was received with deafening plaudits, and, although the time was very slow, the last mile and a-half was traversed in 2m. :)9s, the real struggle resolving itself into a contest over the St. Leger distance, Zuniiski I always cutting out the running. A Melbourne cablegram states that at the sale of the St. Albans' yearling on Wednesday last, the New Zealand sportsman, Mr. 8. H. Oollan, purchased the yearling colt by Newminster from Beryl (sister to ISordenfeidt) for 1000 guineas. Horseowners are reminded that nominations for the Easter Handicap of 300sovs, Autumn Handicap of 250sovs, and Autumn Steeplechase of 150sovs, to be run at the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, are due to-night at ten o'clock.

By the Gairloch yesterday the racehorses Morion and Dan were shipped South in charge of J. Rac. Quadrant was also to have been shipped, but on being put in the horse box .on the wharf lie became very restive and knocked himself about a great deal, which necessitated his being left behind. Mr. Bobbett, who was assisting to quieten the animal, narrowly escaped injuries, as Quadrant made a bite at his arm, which resulted in his coat sleeve being torn out.
