NEWTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Tub Newton Borough Council met yostcr- , day evening. Present:—Messrs. Brown I (Mayor). Tibbs, Holden, Donald, English, .Me.Master, and WurnocU. Dhainaou of Rosk Road.—Mr. B. Berry wrote in reference to hi* contract for ',ho drainage in Rose Road, stating that he had lost £2.3 in the work, and complaining that he had had to perform extra labour in putj ting down junctions. The letter was referred to the Finance Committee. Abattoirs. —The Sanitary Inspector, Mr. Currie, reported that tho abattoirs in the district were in a .satisfactory condition, except that at Mr. Faulder's, though the premises were clean, a nuisance was threatened. , Mr. Faultier had stated, however, that he would have the drain on the beach lengthened, so that any offensive matter would bo removed. Cox's Cbkkk BuinriK.—Tho Town Clerk informed tho Council that sand was being taken away from tho approaches to Cox's Creek Bridge. It was resolved to complain to the Auckland Harbour Board on tho subject, asking them to issue a warning that such a practice would not bo permitted. The Mayor said that it was caused through some drainpipes which had been lefb lying there; and the Council agreed that tlicy should be removed.
