THR ELECTION OF A LABOUR CANDIDATE. Adelaide, January 25. McPherson, the labour candidate, has been elected to represent the constituency of East Adelaide, which was rendered vacant by the resignation of Sir J. C. Bray, on his being appointed Agent-General. An unusual amount of interest was taken in the contest, which was, practically, between labour and capital. THE ROTOMAHANA AGROUND. Launceston, January 25. Dnring a fierce squall the Union Steamship Company's s.s. Rotomahana grounded in the river Tamar, near Georgetown, but is not in a dangerous * position.
