ENGLISH POLITICS.

MR. JOHN MORLEY AT CAMBRIDGE.

Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.

London, September 22. Speaking at Cambridge, Mr. John Morley accused Sir Michael HicksBeach of throwing dust in the eyes of the electors when he implied that the agricultural labourers in England were better fed, clothed, and lodged than those in America or Australia. Mr. Morley contended that in the latter places . men ' had some hope for the future, and he expressed the opinion that the adoption of a legal eight hours would thrust a ramrod in the delicate and complex machinery of British industry. He said the next general election would be a straight tight between Liberals and Tories. He condemned the persistent occupation of Egypt by the British. Home Rule should be the first duty of the country. Mr. Acland Hood is the. Unionist candidate for the Wellington seat in Somerset.
