OUTRAGES IN VICTORIA.
A Melbourne telegram in the Sydney Morning Herald of the 15th instant says : — •' Early on Saturday night, Mrs. Kirk, living near. Talbot, was returning IJ home from a visit to her mother's, about half a mile away, when a man overtook her, and criminally assaulted her. ■ A neighbour heard her screams, but tooknonoticc. Early this morning the same ruffian entered the house of a woman living alone on the road from Wanbra to Talbot and attempted to criminally asrault her. He dreadfully maltreated her, knocking her teeth oat and otherwise injuring her, but though much exhausted the woman was able to resist him. Thence lie proceeded to the homestead of George Gordon, a farmer, about half a mile distant, and entered a bedroom, but the alarm was raised. He escaped through the window, and has not been seen since. Black trackers have picked up tracks of the man at the spot where ho had assaulted Mrs. Kirk, and followed them to both'the other places he visited; but, night coming on, they had to desist till the morning.
