Thursday, 27th August, the Feast of St. Joseph CalasanetiuH, being the anniversary of Rev. Father Lenihatt's ordination, mass was Celebrated at half-past seven a.m. in St. John the Baptist's Church, Parnell. Tho pupils of the Sisters of Mercy sang several hymns with exquisite taste, and were accompanied on the organ by one of the Sisters. Several of the rev. gentleman's Ponsonby friends were present, who complimented the juvenile choir on their great success. An was given in each school, consisting of recitations, dialogues, and songs, and piano and violin selections were played by pupils. The music and singing wero remarkably good, and Father Lenihan, who is a musician, complimented the children highly. He was quite surprised and delighted on receiving numerous handsome presents. He returned thanks to till those who so generously and j affectionately presented them, and congratulated himself on having his lot cast amongst a people who have shown themselves so kind and warmhearted since his coming amongst them. Tho rev. Father asked the Sisters to give the pupils a halfholiday, which was readily granted, and the afternoon was spent most happily by the children.
