In order to encourage that art the Town and Country Journal offers a prize of £25 to the photographer who sends us the most perfect and artistic work in competition done solely by himself or ersel from the time of making the exposure or negative to the mounting and finishing of the phot^raph. A prize of £15 Mill be given to the photographer who shall send the most perfect and artistic work in competition, the exposure or negative of which has been made solely by himself or herself, and the developing and mounting by others. The negative, as well as the positive, must be forwarded to the office of the Town and Country Journal by competitors. The object of having the negative accompanying the picture is for a guarantee that the v.-ork has been done in Australasia, and also to assist in the better manipulation of the engraving. The competition will close on November 30th next, and the prizes mil bo awarded as soon after that date a3 possible. No conditions are made as to the subjects of the pictures. These are left to the choice of the competitors themselves.
