p H <E N I X .FOUND II Y. STANLEY-STREET, AUOKLAND. I have very great pleasure in announcing to ray many friends and customers, both in Auckland and throughout the Colony of Now Zealand, that, having made exceedingly favourable and satisfactory arrangements, and being now free from the heavy responsibilitr and liabilities which, till lately, burdened me, I am again fairly started in my Old Works, >vuu its entire and extensive plant (which is not equalled in the Colony). I take this opportunity of sincerely thanking my many friends and customers, who havo kindly shown their sympathy during the troubled times I have had to pass through, like many others, during the past two vea.rs, and for their patronage during the 23 ye«trs I have carried the ENGINE BUSINESS, in Auckland; and, in soliciting a continuance of their favours. I assure them that, in future, any orders entrusted to me shall still be executed in my oi'.d FIRST-CLASS STYLE AND OF THE VERY BEST MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP, And through my now favourable position, at tho LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICES, My Large Stock op Valuable Patterns, which has been accumulating for more than a quarter of a century, gives me a great advantage in supplying the wants of Auckland and the Thames. SAWMILL MACHINERY. Having manufactured and fitted up Machinery for some of the largest Sawmills in the Colony, made Heavy Planing Machines, Moulding Machines, Light and Heavy Deal Frames, as well as supplying Machinery for the smaller and less expensive mills. MARINE AND LAND ENGINES. We have made and fitted up (on board ship) Marine Engines, with Surface Condensers of considerable dimensions, also many Engines for steam Launohes (high pressure), with and without Surface Con densers ; also Land Engines of considerable dimensions, Condensing and non-Condensing. We have a powerful Suam Hammer and a Scrap Fumade, and can mate any Shafts or other forcings that are likely to be required here. FLAX MACHINERY. I claim to be the inventor of this process now in use, aud which has enabledl Wax Dressers to produce a marketable article at a payable price, and thewl.y establishing an industry which has done, and now » doing, a great amount of good for our Colony. I have in course of construction an improved Flax Machine, which I invite those interested to see before ordering any new Machines. I would also draw attention to my Patent Drum Dresser, which is a simple and inexpensive Machine for dressing up th« beaten, on the drum* now in use, and is exceedingly useful, saving flies and getting the beaters on the drums into a true state with a very few minutes' apphcat on. I also make duplicate parts for all liar Machines now in use, at lowest paiCKS. i BOILER MACHINERY. Having made arrangements for the taking down of my Boller-ni iking Plant at Mechanics' Bay, and its re-erection in Stanley-street, and having, amongst other good Machinery, a powerful Steam Itivetting Machine, I will shortly be in a position to execute orders for either Land or Marine Boilers of any dim enslons, of the latest and best construction, and 1 here again assure my outamera that I wiU meet the requirements of the times by giving the VERY BEST' OP MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP in all work that I undertake, at the lowest prices. MINING MACHINERY Is a department of our business which I have given special attention to. I MADE AND FITTED up THE MUST STAMPER BATTERY ON THE THAMES GOLDFIELD, and with it the first Single Stamper with a large Berdan attached, for crushing specimens and tasting small lots of quartz, wldcl) nlant was purchased from me by tho Kuranui Gold Mining Company. Since then I have made and supplied many of the largest Battery plants ercctcd on the Thames QoldUM aud lutva tha pattern of nil sized Stamper Batteries, Bordan3, etc. Fraser's Improved Grinding and Amalgamating Mill for Gold and Silver Ores, etc. But I would here specially call tho attention of all who are interested in our golllelds to my improved Mining Machinery, viz. ERASER'S PATENT IMPROVED CONTINUOUS GRINDING AND AMALGAMATING MILL with my registered "Silent Central Overflow," for the treatment of gold and silver ore 3, which will save from 80 to 100 per cent, of the gold contained in tho ore, and which, I feel sure, will supply the want long felt in our goldtields (especially where poor ores exist, and where fine crushing is absolutely required), n fact, a cheap method whereby the gold and silver can be separated and saved from the raw ore. By the adoption of this Mill the necessity for Copper Plates, Blanket Tables, and Berdans, with the expensive attendants, are not required, and are entirely dispensed with. It also does away with the necessity for tailing pit 3 and the labour attached to the emptying of them, etc. A Battery of five stamps (say, Bcwt each) and two sft Continuous Grinding Mills, fitted with my registered Silent Contral Overflow and the Patent Syphon and Cup for quicksilver, attached, is capable of reducing from twe ve o eon tons of ordinary quartz in twenty-four hours to a degree of fineness far surpassing any Berdan crus ng and without any loss of quicksilver. The Stamper Box should be placed quite close to the Mills discharging direcfc into them. The screens on Stamper Bo* do not require to be finer than J-inch mesh, as tho Mill quite easily reduces from that j size to the greatest degree of fineness necessary. Tho lip of overflow is 103 inches in circumference, which i allows of a large quantity of water being lined without the danger of carrying away the fine gold. Each Mill is charged with from 1001b to 1501b quicksilver, and by using the Syphon and Cup, which is attached to the bottom of the Mill, the manager or superintendent can draw off at any timo, without stopping the Mill, 80 per cent, of the quicksilver, and squeeze the amalgam therefrom and return the silver to tho Mill (an easy matter compared to cleaning up Copper Platos and attending to Blanket Tables). The Syphon can be boxed in and kept under lock and key. I HERE, WITHOUT HESITATION, STATE THAT MY IMPROVED MILL WILL REDUCE DOUBLE THIS QUANTITY OP RAW ORE OR TAILINGS TO THE GREATEST DEGREE OF FINENESS AND SAVE MORE GOLD THAN ANY MILL OR PAN I KNOW OF. I cordially invite all Mine and Battery Owners and Managers to call at our WORKS, STANLEYSTREET, where they can see the Mill at work, and judge for themselves. I am prepared to provide plans and give estimates of the cost of croctlon ot simple, cheap, and effective Plants suitable for our goldfiolds. " TESTING PLANT. I have ereoted at the WORKS, STANLEY a COMPLETE TESTING PLANT, WITH 1 LABORATORY attached, where all ores to be treated are first crushed dry and passed through a half 1 noh riddle, from which samples are taken, and assays made, and the value of the ore ascertained, before 3 tis put into the Mill, thus finding out the true percentage of gold saved by any appliances.
