THE PRESENTS BESTOWED BY THE GERMAN EMPEROR.
The Emperor, beini: precluded from giving, except under certain circumstances, decorations to subjects of Her Majesty, has bestowed the following presents'in recognition of his visit to England :— To the Karl of Latliom, Lord Chamberlain, and to the Countess of Antrim, each a beautiful porcelain chandelier; Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, Lord High Steward, a similar chandelier; Duke of Portland, a marble bust of his Majesty ; Lord Salisbury, a rich rococo clock in porcelain ; Sir Spencer Fane, Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain's Department, a richly jewelled snuffbox; Admiral Sir John Corumerell, a jewelled snuffbox, with the Empress's portrait in miniature; General Sir J. McNeill, a similar snuffbox ; Lieutenant-Colonel the Hon. W. Carinaton, a gold cigarette case, richly jewelled; Lord do Eos, a rich rococo vase in porcelain ; Major - General Sir J. Coweli for Lady CowelL a large diamond brooch; General Sir H. Ponsonby, for Lady I'onsonby, a diamond bracelet ; Sir T. Sanderson and Mr. F. R. Synge, jewelled snuffboxes, with the initial " W." set in diamonds, surmounted by the Imperial crown ; Mr. W. A. Coote, a jewelled stud pin, with the Imperial Crown ; the Lord Mayor, a portrait of His Majesty; Major-General Sir G. Maude, a similar portrait ; the Hon. Eric Barrington, private secretary to Lord Salisbury, a cigarette case with an eagle crest in diamonds ; the Hon. Schomberg McDonnell, a silver cigarette case, with autograph aivj portrait; the Senior Alderman of the City, and the first and second Sheriffs of the City and Town Clerk, gold siiutl' boxes, with the initial " W." in diamonds and rubies; the Recorder and the Remembrancer of London, jewelled stud-pins; Sir Edward Bradford, Chief Commissioner of Police, and Colonel Smith, commanding the City Police, stud pin with coronet; Colonel Frank Russell, Military Attach 6 to the British Ambassador in Heiii, a handsome silver cigarette caw), .surmounted with the Kaiser's monogram set in diamonds; all commanders and other officers of the guards of honour and escorts to His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor's photograph. Besides tho above marks of favour, His Majesty presented to all the Royal servants who attended him during his visit in this country a small medal with the Imperial monogram embossed thereon. The Emperor also gave souvenirs to tho heads of departments in Windsor Castle ; among others, a gold scarf-pin set, in diamonds, to MP. I Column, and a diamond pin to tho Lord I Chamberlain's secretary ut the Cuttle.
