CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Tun fortnightly meeting of tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was beld yesterday. Present : Messrs. Atkin (chairman), Dignan, Mays, Bollard, Udy, Swales, Bell, and Kidd.

IkobeAsk of Salary.—lt was decided to increase tho salary of washerwoman at tho Costley Home from £39 to £45 per annum and found.

Hospital Washing. —The washerwoman employed to do tho work in connection with the Hospital applied for an increase in tho rate of remuneration, namely, Is por dozen. It was agreed to give her Is (3d per dozen, tho chairman in tho meantime to endeavour to arrange for the washing being done at tho Costloy Home. Admission to tiik Home.—Application was made to have a woman named Marion Brcmner, aged 86 years, admitted as a permanent inmate of the Costley Homo. It was stated that sho hud been blind for 15 years, and her grand-daughter's husband was unablo to support her any longer, as she now required medical attendance Mr. Bollard said ho had known Mrs. Bromner for about thirty years, and knew her cpse to bo a deserving ono. She hud once been in good circumstances, but had lost everything. He moved that she bo allowed to remain in the Home, and tlio motion was carried. Thefollowing persons were also granted admissions :—George Quinn, aged 75 years; .fames Scott, aged 76 years ; Henry Decks, 80 years; and Alexander Adamson (for one month only), aged 38 years. Tho Master of tho Homo reported that on the '26' th insb. there wero 122 males and 3-i female inmates.

Repairs to Hospital Battery. —lt was decided to grant William Croshor £5 to put tho battory at the Hospital in thorough order, and allow him 10a por month to keep it in repair. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Act. —A circular was received from* Mr. VV. Robertson, covering copies of resolutions relative to the working of rhe Hospital anil Charitable Aid Act passed at a public meeting at Saiidyinounfc, Otago, on tho 23rd June. Consideration was postponed for a month.
