MASONIC.
MASONIC INSTITUTE. A general meeting of the committee of the Masonic Institute was held last nifcht in the Mutual Life Association Buildings, rhie was the first meeting held in the rooms which are in future to be the home of the Institute, and there was a large attendance. Brother H. C. Teweley presided, and Brother G. W. Basloy fulfilled the office of secretary. Letters were read from Brother S. Walker, Papakura, and Brother Albert Bruce, Lodge Sir Walter Scott, forwarding donations, and hearty good wishes for the association. Apologies were received from several brethren for unavoidable absence. In response to country lodges the secretary was asked to reply to their communications i pointing out the advantages which the Institute would afford to visiting brethren from the country. Mr. Leslie's application for the position of caretaker was deferred. The Chairman brought up the report of the selection committee, to the effect that they had decided to close with the offer of Hancock and Co. for renting the promises on the terms arranged —£1 per week for three years and a-half, terminable at the end" of a year by four weeks' notice, the proprietors paying all rates. The action of the committee was confirmed, and it was agreed that the trustees to be appointed should sign the deed. Brother Chapman, on behalf of the sub-committee appointed to draft; rules, brought up their report. The rules were read and considered Herialim. It was agreed that membership to all approved Masons should be 5h per annum, the names of candidates to be submitted to the committee. Brothers 11. C. Tewsley, J- F. Logan, M. Niccol, A. S. Russell, and A. Kidd were elected trustees. The questions of furnishing, &c, were allowed to stand over till the next meeting, which is to be held next Wednesday week. LODGE ST. ANDREW, 418 S.C. Tho monthly meeting of this lodge wns held last evening, ancl after the usual routine business one E.A. brother was passed to the degree of F.C.
