MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Caledonian*. —There is little or no improvement on the reef in the Otago section of the mine at No. 1 level. A little gold is seen occasionally in the quartz in breaking it out, but nothing worth picking out. Forty-six loads of quartz have been sent to the battery from here, ,but it is just shaping about the same as st did last time. The crushing will be completed to-morrow. The reef in the Red Queen section, above No. 1 level, is carrying very nice mineral, and the quartz is promising, but so far no gold has been seen. Turtle's leader on the Caledonian boundary above No. 1 level, near the place where the Hazelbank has broken through, looks well for gold. I intend to put some of the men on to try it. I will report more fully on this in the course of a day or two. ' Big Pump —The manager wired on Saturday that the Big Pump had resumed work at seven o'clock on Friday evening, and that everything was working well. Thy Fluke (Kuaotunu). The mine manager wired on Saturday Two hundred and tow tons ore for lOSoz retorted gold.
