[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORKESrONDKNTS.I Hamilton, Friday. At the meeting of , the Kirikiriroa Highway Board to-day there were present: —Messrs. Primrose (chairman), Gillctt, MacLeau, and Coates. Mr. E. J. Moffatt wrote asking that the road at the bonemill be gravelled : The consideration of the matter was deferred to next meeting to see the effect of the ; rain on it. The Audit Department returned tho aocounts as correct. A sum of £4 3s had been paid to the credit of the Board for thirds on deferred land payments. Tenders for cutting a drain at Taupiri were received, and that of Walsh accepted at 12s 9d per chain. Tho others were : Reee, 13s 9d : MeDonarlsou, 14s 6<i ; Ebnev, 12s : Brown, 13a 6d; Murray, 18s 4d ; King, 14s 4cl. Mr. MacLoaa moved, according to notice, that the clerk's salary be increased by £5, he highly eulogising the services of Captain McPherson. Tho motion was seconded by Mr. Gillett, and carried, Mr. Coatee alono dissenting. Te Lriawha was brought up to-day, before Messrs. Graham and Coates, Justices of tho Peace, on a charge of stealiu<j a horse, the property of Mr. Littlewood. The evidence of Messrs. Littlewood, Raynes, and Sheehan was taken. The prisoaer made no defence, and was committed for trial. Some 25 men, employed by one of the contractors' for fellinpbush on tho Te Akau estate, came into Hamilton from Raglan last night, having thrown m> the work. The men working for another contractor were, they said, about to follow suit. The amount required to purchase the gold cross for Volunteer Pearson, the winner of the Hamilton belt in two successive years, has been already nearly subscribed by the ladies of Hamilton.
