THAMES. [from our own correspondent.] The annual meeting of the Licensing Committee for the Thames Licensing District was held at noon yesterday, in the Courthouse. All the committee were present, viz., Messes. H. C. Gillespie (chairman), W. L. Thornnrn, J as. McGowan, A. Butler, and J. West. Upon the committee, taking their seats, the Chairman remarked that they were pleased to notice by the report of the police that there had been far less Sunday trading during the past twelve months than for the previous period, and that no one had been convicted of supplying prohibited, persons. Still there was a good deal of Sunday trading going on yet, and the committee had come to the determination to cancel the license of any person at the next annual meeting who nhould in the meantime be convicted of any breach of the licensing Act, and this warning was given them so that they would know what to expect. The committee also thought chat the Licensed Victuallers themselves should see that only good tenants occupied their houses, and thus help in the attemi.t to suppress _ all illegal practices. ■ The general business was then proceeded with, when all the applications for renewals were granted, although several were granted subject to certain repairs being .camed.out to the satisfaction of the police; -Two applications • for transfefeof licenses were also granted, viz., from Geo.
