The Anani Farm, Waverley, of 1040 acres, about six miles from the township, has been purchased by Mr. James Riddell, from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, into whose hands it had fallen. The price paid was £9000, which •included the stock, consisting of 2500 ewes. The following is the state of Her Majesty's Prison," Auckland, for the week ending May 30,1891:—On remand, 1 male ; awaiting trial, 6 males; penal servitude, 49 anales, 1 female; hard labour, 48 males, "16 females ; default, of bail, 5 males; received during; thejweek, 11 males, 9 females; ■ discharged, il males, 6 females. Total in prison, 108 males, 16 females. The large and rare fish which was recently stranded at Okain's Bay, near Christchurch, has been pronounced to be a . very fine specimen of the Regcdicus Pacificus, frequently known as the ribbon fish", and sometimes called king of the herring. There is one specimen)already in the Museum, but it is , only 12 feet long, while that , recently caught measures 20 feet.
