The morket in horses has been very dull of late, especially in hacks, 'owing"to the number sent here from Qawke's Bay, but forall decent draught stock a fair demand : existed, • and very good ; figures ■ realised, good farm ; sorts ranging from £14 to £18; hacks; good, £S to £12; poor soVta, £4. Sheep : .Napier: ewes, 1_; culls, Cs 4d. :At our Manaia sale, on the 20th May, our yards were crowded with stock; considerably, more coming forward than were advertised; % about 1100 head of cattle and 2000 sheep were j yarded. (Limited) repeat: On Wednesday, the 27th ultimo, :>>efore a large attendance of buyers, we held our fortnightly stoi* Sale at Jla.iiaia.The yards were well filled with -cat-> tie, the majority of which were of good'quality, nearly twice the number coming forward than-were advertised being yarded. The bidding was spirited throughout, and every pen of stock well contested, though several lines of cattle left the yrirds unsold through excessive reserves being put upon thum. We quote price* as under:—Fat bullocks, JOS 4s to £o gs : 3 to 4 year old forward bullocks, £4 10s to £5 ;2Jto 3 year old steers, £3 19s to £4 3»; 18 month* to 2 year old steers, £2 2s to £218 a; fat cowifc £3 to £3 6» ; empty cows, £2 18s to £2 158 ; springers, £217 ato £3; yearlings to IS months old heifers, £1 8s to£l 14s ; calves, 13s ; sheep culls, 43. One line of ewes in lamb was passed in at 14s.
