After tlio first excitement in Europe and America about Koch's tuberculinc, there was a redaction, which may bo said to be still in progress;--: The first Expectations wero certainly not realised, and probably never will bo ; and porhaps tho consfiquatib disappointmonb lias tondod to obscui'o the good thoro may bo in the mode oi ; treatment. In
regard to the Koch cure, we think that colonial medical men: should not be guided entirely by the results of treatment iiv Europe and America. .■ Consumption is.not a disease of our climate, and it is nbtioribus" iihat persons come from England in that disease, and revive and live for many years, if they are not entirely cured. In some cases where the disease has not made great progress, a complete cure is effected simply by the climate. In these circumstances it is only natural to conclude that the beneficial effect of any remedy will bo greater herb, where the climate aids the means employed. It will be observed from a Melbourne cable message that two patients at Warrnambool have been declared cured of consumption after the twenty-eighth injection, and in , several other" cases both in New Zealand and Australia good results have been obtained.
