A communication has been received from the secretary of the late Paris Exhibition, intimating that winners of medals can obtain the same on payment of 28 francs for silver ones, and 600 francs for gold ones. FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND. Brisbane, April 13. The floods at Cairns have drowned over 500 cattle and 200 horses. It is not at present known whether any human lives have been lost. * 'CARBONATE ORE. Sydney, April 13. A rich development of carbonate ore has been found in South Broken Hills mine. SIR GEORGE GREY IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, April 13. The ex-New Zealanders resident in Melbournewarmly welcomed Sir George Grey on his arrival in this city, and presented him with an illuminated address. THE APIA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL Sydney, April 13. Baron von Pilsach lias arrived here, en route for Samoa, where he is to occupy the position of President of the Municipal Council, to which he was appointed by Germany, England, and America. . -SHIPPING.
